A complete cardiac assessment combines a review of your medical history and lifestyle, a detailed physical exam, and a range of targeted diagnostic tests to create a comprehensive picture of your heart health.

A complete cardiac assessment is a methodical process used by healthcare professionals to evaluate your overall heart health, diagnose potential conditions, and determine the best course of treatment. It will involve:

  1. Medical history: Your consultant or healthcare professional will discuss your symptoms, lifestyle factors (like diet, exercise, and smoking), and personal and family history of heart disease.
  2. Physical exam: Your consultant will examine you for any physical signs of heart disease. They will check your blood pressure and heart rate, listen to your heart and lungs for abnormal sounds, and look for physical signs of cardiovascular issues, such as swelling in your ankles.
  3. Diagnostic tests: Based on your medical history and physical exam, you may need specific tests, such as an Electrocardiogram (ECG), blood tests, and imaging, such as an echocardiogram, to investigate the heart’s structure, rhythm, and function in greater detail.
