Dr Usman Sheikh

Dr Sheikh is Consultant Interventional Cardiologist with a specialist interest in Cardiac MRI. He is currently the clinical lead for Cardiology at Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust.

His specialist interests include diagnosing and treating chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, syncope, aortopathies, atrial fibrillation, valvular heart disease, and hypertension.

He completed his Cardiology training in the Southwest of England. To further develop his Cardiac MRI skills, he completed the prestigious Gawthorn Cardiac MRI fellowship at Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust. He is one of a few Cardiologists in the UK who practice both interventional Cardiology and advanced Cardiac imaging (Cardiac MRI).

Since joining Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust in 2018, Dr Sheikh has established a complex PCI service (rotablation PCI) as well as stress cardiac MRI service within the department.

He has a keen interest in Education and is currently the Cardiology teaching lead for medical students in years 3, 4, and 5. He regularly organises educational and teaching training days for doctors and other allied health professionals nationally and internationally.

Dr Sheikh is the current chair of the Southwest Interventional Cardiology group. Last year he was awarded a Fellowship of the Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine.
