Mr Irons is a Senior Consultant Gynaecologist for the treatment of menorrhagia and endometriosis. 

Novasure endometrial ablation for heavy periods (menorrhagia) 
Novasure is a day case treatment that can be undertaken without a general anaesthetic. Following the treatment 50% of women never have another period, the remaining 50% have very, very light periods. Mr Irons has treated over 400 women with excellent results and no complications to date. 

Helica laser treatment for endometriosis 
Helica is a very safe technique using a fine beam of helium that vaporises endometriosis. Mr Irons has treated over 450 women with a consistent 80% reduction in pelvic pain, pain on intercourse and painful periods. Helica is performed in conjunction with laparoscopy and requires a general anaesthetic. 

Transobturator tape for incontinence
This is a day case procedure for female incontinence. It works immediately and women can return to a normal pattern of work/exercise within a week. Mr Irons has successfully treated over 500 women with no significant complications and to date 90% success rate. 

Prolapse Surgery
Mr Irons has a particular interest in female prolapse surgery both of the uterus, bladder and bowels. He has for many years been the main prolapse surgeon at Newcastle Nuffield and is very pleased he has been joined by Mr Jonathan Bradley who also has a special interest in prolapse.

Mr Irons takes particular care and attention when assessing prolapse pre-surgery, discussing with patients all their options including no surgery, physio, pessaries and surgery. Patients are provided with the Royal College patient information leaflets via email.

During surgery, Mr Irons takes extra time and care using surgical techniques to achieve the best results.
