Dr Michael Irani is a Senior Consultant Rheumatologist with 30 years experience. He has attended seven Olympic and Commonwealth games and selected at IOC Medial liaison for the Rio Olympics.
He is an examiner and question setter for the Royal College of physicians, Royal College of Surgeons and Faculty of Sports and exercise Medicine. He is a medical member of the Judicial Appeals Tribunal and a Medical Member of the Sports Resolution Appeals Tribunal.
Dr Michael Irani is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Imperial College School of Medicine and a recognised teacher in Medicine at the University of London. He is also an Executive Board Member for the International Weightlifting Federation.
Rheumatic diseases, bone health (e.g. osteoporosis), Paget’s disease, osteoarthritis, spinal pain and sports injuries and performance issues.
Dr Michael Irani’s interests include spending time with his family. He takes an interest in the medical management of sports, such as cricket, rugby and weightlifting.
Dr Michael Irani has carried out several clinical studies on risk versus benefit ratios of treatments of rheumatic diseases. Other areas of research include doping in sport.
