Paying for yourself

Nuffield Health Paying for yourselfIf you don’t have private medical insurance or if your policy doesn’t cover the treatment you need, you may want to pay for your treatment yourself.

We can give you a guaranteed price tailored to your treatment, that includes all hospital costs, your consultant’s fee and your anaesthetist's fee, if applicable. This gives you peace of mind and ensures that your price will not change, no matter how complex the procedure.

Your consultant fee for your operation is included in the guaranteed price, but please be aware that there is a hospital charge for any procedures and tests undertaken in the outpatient consulting room. Outpatient and follow-up consultant fees are a separate cost to tests and treatments, and will be forwarded separately by your consultant.

How do I pay?

You pay one price to the hospital. Your consultant’s fee is included, as is everything you need during your treatment. You are asked to pay your bill 7 working days (or 10 working days if paying by personal cheque) before treatment. This allows us to book treatment rooms and operating theatres and ensure that the right clinical staff are available on the day.

  2. Ask us any questions you need. We want to make your treatment as clear and easy as possible.
  3. Sign the agreement to our 'paying for yourself' terms and conditions included in the offer letter, and send it back to us. You may also receive a phone call from us checking that you’re happy to go ahead.
  4. Pay for your treatment in advance.
  5. Read the welcome pack that we send you and fill in any forms we ask for.
  6. Either attend a pre-admission appointment, or talk to one of our nurses over the phone to make sure we have all the information we need before treatment.
  7. Make sure you bring your valid credit/debit card to pay for any extras you might need during your stay with us, like phone calls, meals for visitors and so on.
