Hospital news - Top UK surgeons at Exeter

We are really proud (but not surprised) that four of our orthopaedic surgeons have been recognised in the Daily Mail's "Top 10" series which listed the top surgeons in the UK for hip, knee and spinal surgery.

Uniquely, the study by the Daily Mail canvassed the views of top orthopaedic surgeons across the country and asked them "if your own nearest and dearest were to need a total hip/knee replacement, who would you refer them to and why?" Votes and recommendations flooded in for Mr Graham Gie (hips), Mr John Timperley (hips), Mr Andrew Toms (knees) and Mr Daniel Chan (spinal).

After nearly 20 years as an NHS consultant and over 4,000 primary and revision total hip replacements Mr Graham Gie retired from NHS practice in 2010 and is now only available at Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital.

Hospital news - MRI breast screening now available

Our new self referral MRI breast screening service is the first in the region to offer Magnetic Resonance Imaging as part of a standard screening package. This technology is proven to be more sensitive than a mammogram alone and enables us to offer annual breast screening to women from a much younger age than the standard NHS screening programme.
