About
Mr Douie undertook his primary medical training in Cape Town, graduating in 1989. He subsequently undertook sub-speciality training in General Surgery again in Cape Town and was awarded his Fellowship in General Surgery in 1999. Following this he spent three years of sub-specialist training in transplant surgery and two years in gastrointestinal surgery. He moved to the UK in 2002 to undertake a further sub-speciality fellowship in Coloproctology in Edinburgh. He took up a substantive post as a consultant colorectal surgeon in Plymouth in 2003.
Mr Douie was awarded his research degree, MMed in 2001.
Mr Douie manages a wide range of both benign and malignant conditions affecting the GI tract and has a special interest in the management of Inflammatory bowel disease. He is an accredited Bowel Cancer screening colonoscopist and is actively involved in the programme.
