About
Mr Williams is an established ENT consultant at University Hospitals Plymouth with a special interest in head and neck cancer, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and military-related ENT including hearing loss whilst also maintaining currency in general ENT presentations.
He attended Nottingham University Medical School moving to Plymouth upon qualification in 2005. Following his initial years as a junior doctor he completed a period of general duties within the Royal Navy which included deployment to Afghanistan, as Medical Officer to 42 Commando Royal Marines, as well as serving on HMS SCOTT whilst tasked to perform hydrographic surveys of the Southern Ocean.
Upon returning to hospital medicine, Mr Williams ranked 1st nationally for selection into higher surgical training in Ear, Nose and Throat. He elected to remain close to home, training initially within the Peninsula before moving to Bristol for his senior training years. He successfully became a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons in 2017 and was awarded GMC specialist registration in 2018.
Mr Williams completed a fellowship in advanced head and neck oncology and transoral LASER surgery at Aintree University Hospital before joining Derriford as a substantive ENT consultant surgeon in 2019.
