Our private GPs at The Holly Hospital are experienced across all aspects of general medicine and have a range of specialist interests, enabling them to manage the majority of health concerns. If you are on specialist medication and you require a repeat prescription, we will require evidence in the form of a recent letter from your specialist before we consider prescribing. Please be aware that any prescription is at the discretion of the prescribing clinician. If deemed not clinically appropriate, we will not prescribe.

Vaccinations
A wide range of vaccinations is available through our Private GP Service, including routine immunisations for children and travel vaccinations, with expert, up‑to‑date advice tailored to your individual needs. Vaccinations available include:
- MMR (the MMR and chickenpox vaccinations are done separately)*
- Chickenpox (varicella)**
- Cervical cancer (HPV)**
- Diphtheria**
- Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B**
- Meningitis A, C, W and Y**
- Pneumonia**
- Polio**
- Tetanus**

How much does a private GP appointment cost?
Standard private GP appointments last 20 minutes and cost £120. If you need a longer appointment, please call the hospital to arrange this.
We welcome patients of all ages, and you do not need to pre-register with our practice or live locally to attend. We currently offer face-to-face appointments only.

Do I need to pre-register or live locally?No. We welcome all patients, whether for a single appointment or for ongoing care. You do not need to pre-register with us or live locally.

Do I need to be registered with an NHS GP?No, you do not need to be registered with an NHS GP to book an appointment with one of our Private GPs.

Will seeing a private GP affect seeing an NHS GP?No. Seeing a private GP does not affect your registration with your NHS GP, and it won’t stop you from using NHS services.

Will you contact my NHS GP?We will only contact your NHS GP with your consent.

How long is a standard appointment?Our standard appointments are 20 minutes, which is longer than a routine NHS appointment. This gives you the time to discuss your health concerns in detail. Please enquire with our team if you need a longer appointment.

What should I bring to my private GP appointment?To make the most of your appointment, please bring:
- Photo ID (for example, a passport or driving licence).
- A list of medicines you’re currently taking, including doses (and any supplements or over‑the‑counter remedies).
- Any relevant medical information, such as previous test results, clinic/hospital letters and scan reports (if applicable).

Can you issue prescriptions?Yes. Our GPs can issue private prescriptions, which you can take to any pharmacy. For your convenience, we also have an on-site pharmacy at The Holly Hospital where you can get your medication immediately.

Do you see children?Yes, our private GPs are experienced in treating patients of all ages, including children and infants.

What about health insurance?Most private health insurance policies do not cover GP consultations. Our service is designed to be self-funding. However, if your GP refers you for diagnostic tests or to a specialist, your insurance may cover that part of your care. Please check with your provider.

Is there parking available?Yes — limited on‑site parking is available for patients and visitors at The Holly Hospital.
Parking is Pay & Display (ANPR cameras record your entry and exit), with free drop‑off/pick‑up bays for up to 30 minutes near the main entrance.
Blue Badge holders can part for free. Please display your blue badge and report to reception on arrival, where assistance will be provided. Blue badge holders will be required to enter a car parking code into one of our iPads. Codes are valid for 24 hours from the time of entering the code.
