About
Professor Tommy Lindau qualified from the University of Lund, Sweden in 1985. He first became a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon 1992 and later became a certified Hand Surgeon in 1997. He completed a doctoral PhD thesis at the University of Lund, Sweden in 2000.
Professor Lindau took up the post of Consultant Hand Surgeon at The Pulvertaft Hand Centre 2005. Since then he has been appointed Assistant Professor, University of Derby 2006, Visiting Professor, Perugia, Italy 2008, Associate Professor, University of Bergen, Norway 2011-14 and was appointed Professor at University of Derby 2018.
He was President of EWAS (European Wrist Arthroscopy Society) 2010-11, Vice President 2008-10 and Past-President since 2012.
His academic achievements include over 100 publications including;
One Edited textbook; Distal radius fractures. Current concepts. Springer 2014
Four awarded publications including PhD thesis "Distal radius fractures and effects of associated ligament injuries"
15+ book chapters
Two invited forewords; Operative techniques in Hand, Wrist and Elbow Surgery, 2016 and Distal radius fractures. Current concepts 2014.
Professor Lindau has more than 10 international invitations as key-note speaker to various national societies including; Argentinian Hand Society 2011, German Hand Society 2014, Danish Hand Society 2016, Dutch Hand Society 2017.
Professor Lindau works with general hand surgery, but has a special knowledge and interest in wrist problems, particularly problems after distal radius fractures.
