About

Mr Hahnel is a NHS Consultant in Orthopaedics and Trauma at Bradford Teaching Hospitals Trust. His subspecialty interest is hip and knee primary and revision joint replacements along with knee arthroscopy extending from simple arthroscopic procedure to meniscal repairs. He undertook a one year Royal College of Surgeons of England approved fellowship in the above at Chapel Allerton Orthopaedic Centre. He keeps a keen general trauma interest for which he is an active Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) instructor and published regarding hip fractures.

Originally from Leeds, he graduated from Newcastle University and finished his training on the Yorkshire Deanery higher surgical training rotation.

He prides himself on treating all patients as individuals and offers treatments according to their specific needs. Regarding joint replacement, he pays particular attention to the accuracy of implantation and soft tissue structures which includes the use of pre-operative templating and intra-operative techniques to improve accuracy. This has resulted in low complication rates, low revision rates and high satisfaction.

He is experienced with both uncemented and cemented total hip replacements with a variety of articulating bearing surfaces and total knee replacement including the use of partial knee replacements where appropriate.

Mr Hahnel also specialises in the following treatments, tests and scans at Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital:
