Nuffield Health unveil £1 million investment at Moorgate Fitness & Wellbeing Gym

Leading not-for-profit healthcare organisation Nuffield Health unveiled today the results of a £1 million investment at its fitness and wellbeing gym in Moorgate, London.

The new look opening coincides with National Fitness Day (7 September) and is the second stage of a multi-million refurbishment that has been occurring since Nuffield Health acquired the gym from The CityPoint Club in June 2015.

Taking almost 2 months to complete, the new look gym now includes an extended gym floor space with a functional zone, top of the range  Life Fitness Discover SE range treadmills, bikes, cross trainers, flex striders and power mills. A second group exercise studio has also been built specifically for holistic group classes, including Pilates, Yoga, dance and stretch based classes allowing the current timetable offering to be enhanced considerably now offering over 100 classes.

The new additions now complements a medical clinic which opened in December 2015 and continues Nuffield Health’s vision to deliver a variety of connected health and wellbeing services, helping people get healthy and stay healthy.

Available to non-members and members, Londoners can book physiotherapy appointments without referral from their doctor, have travel vaccinations, book GP appointments and receive a Health Assessment. Health Assessments give a detailed view of a person’s health covering key concerns and tests for diabetes, heart health, cancer risk and emotional wellbeing. For those customers undertaking these, an onsite laboratory has also been added to analyse blood tests in order to give same day results.

Other services members can also access include squash courts, a spa and beauty clinic, golf performance studio and 20 metre swimming pool.

This £1 million investment at Moorgate comes on the back of a recent acquisition Nuffield Health made of 35 Virgin Active gyms on the 1 August, making Nuffield Health the second biggest fitness provider in the UK by number of consumer sites[1] with 112 fitness and wellbeing gyms. All 2,300 Virgin Active employees from the 35 gyms moved over along with 120,000 members.
