FibroScan is a type of ultrasound to measure liver stiffness. This helps to assess how much scarring there is in the liver, which can be caused by a number of liver diseases.

Your consultant may recommend a FibroScan if you have one of the following liver conditions:

Autoimmune Hepatitis
Cirrhosis
Hepatitis B
Hepatitis C
Alcoholic Liver Disease
Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH)
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)
Genetic Diseases (such as Hemochromatosis and Wilson’s Disease)
