About
Sher Aslam is a Consultant Ophthalmic and Vitreoretinal Surgeon at the Manor Hospital, Oxford. In addition, he is a Consultant Ophthalmic and Vitreoretinal Surgeon at the Oxford Eye Hospital and an Honorary Consultant Ophthalmic and Vitreoretinal Surgeon at Northampton General Hospital. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
Mr Aslam graduated from the University of Southampton in 1999 before completing Officer Training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He recently retired from the British Army at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His ophthalmic training was conducted in London where he undertook two years of fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital. In 2014, he completed a DPhil at the University of Oxford.
Mr Aslam provides services for cataract surgery, retinal disorders including those requiring surgery and in general ophthalmic conditions.

Research
Mr Aslam is an Honorary Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Oxford. Having completed a DPhil thesis on the treatment of retinal laser injuries, he is currently investigating methods to preserve vision lost due to retinal disease. In the main, this includes methods to preserve or transplant retinal photoreceptors.
