About
Mr Chris Dare is a UK fellowship-trained consultant spinal surgeon who specialises in diagnosing and treating a wide range of spinal conditions. He provides care for patients of all ages, from children to older adults, using both non-surgical treatments and advanced spinal surgery.
His work covers all areas of the spine, from the neck (cervical spine) to the lower back (lumbar spine). He works closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, pain management experts and radiologists, to ensure patients receive comprehensive, personalised care.
Mr Dare has particular expertise in treating complex spinal conditions, including scoliosis (spinal curvature), spinal tumours, trauma and degenerative spine disorders such as back pain and nerve compression.
He began his medical career in healthcare as a registered general nurse at Frimley Park Hospital before completing his first degree at the University of Surrey. He also served as a Nursing Officer in the British Army. He later trained in medicine at the University of Southampton, graduating with honours in 1998.
Mr Dare completed his basic orthopaedic training in the Wessex region and went on to undertake a specialist spinal surgery fellowship at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. He was then appointed as a consultant spinal surgeon, treating both adult and paediatric patients.
