Dr Vivienne Ezzat

Dr Vivienne Ezzat is a Consultant Electrophysiologist at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, with a special interest in adult congenital heart disease (ACHD). She has been responsible for the hugely successful expansion of the ACHD arrhythmia service, which she leads at the Barts Heart Centre, St Bartholomew’s Hospital. Vivienne looks after patients with heart rhythm disturbances including bradycardias, SVT and AF. She performs catheter ablations and also implants/extracts pacemakers and defibrillators. Dr Ezzat also sees patients with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). 

Vivienne graduated Sheffield University in 1998 and trained in general medicine and cardiology in Leeds, before moving to London in 2003. She was awarded her PhD from King’s College in 2007. She trained in electrophysiology (EP) at the Heart Hospital (UCLH) and Barts, before undertaking a Fellowship in ACHD EP at the world-renowned Toronto General Hospital in 2014. She joined Barts as a Consultant in 2015. She has an active interest in outcomes research, as well as research into the mechanisms and outcomes of arrhythmia in patients with congenital heart disease.

Vivienne’s passion is caring for her patients as unique human beings. She addresses all aspects of their heart rhythm care, not only being responsible for the medications or procedure. She provides the crucial medical link to a number of other allied healthcare professionals who can support lifestyle changes, emotional and mental wellbeing and ensure that her patients enjoy their lives to the fullest, regardless of their particular heart rhythm condition.
