About

I am a Consultant Dermatologist with over 20 years of experience. I was appointed as a Consultant in 2001.

I provide private care at Nuffield Health Derby Hospital. I also work in the NHS at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.

My aim is to give you an accurate diagnosis as early as possible. This helps avoid unnecessary treatment and long‑term discomfort.

I studied medicine at Nottingham Medical School and qualified with honours in 1992.

I completed my dermatology training in Leicester before becoming a Consultant in Derby.

Alongside my clinical work, I have held national leadership roles. I have been President of the British Association of Dermatologists and a Clinical Director for NHS England.

Areas of expertise

I diagnose and treat a wide range of skin conditions including:

  • Skin cancer and mole assessment
  • Skin rashes and inflammatory conditions, such as eczema and psoriasis
  • Acne and pigmentation problems
  • Hair and nail disorders
  • Genital skin conditions
  • Allergy and contact dermatitis (skin reactions to substances)

Specialist services

I offer a range of dermatology services, including:

  • Full skin checks and mole assessments
  • Skin cancer screening
  • Skin surgery to remove lesions (simple procedures)
  • Patch testing to identify skin allergies

I do not carry out more complex reconstructive procedures involving flaps or skin grafts.

Appointments

You will need a GP referral to see me as a new patient.

My approach

I focus on precision medicine. This means making the right diagnosis early and choosing the most effective treatment for you.

I will take time to explain your condition clearly and discuss your treatment options.

My goal is to help you feel informed, reassured and confident in your care.
