About

Dr Alan Fayaz is a leading Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia based in London, with over 20 years of clinical experience. His areas of expertise include neuropathic, spinal, and musculoskeletal pain, as well as pain associated with neurological conditions. He has a particular interest in the perioperative management of patients with complex pain and the therapeutic use of medical cannabis.

Dr Fayaz consults privately at OS Clinic and holds an NHS consultant position at University College London Hospitals NHS Trust. He is also Chair of the Communications Committee for the British Pain Society and serves as Regional Lead (London North-Central) for the Essential Pain Management Advisory Group.

He holds degrees from Cambridge University (BA) and Imperial College London (MBBS), followed by specialist training in internal medicine, palliative care, and a seven-year programme in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine through the London Deanery. He completed advanced pain fellowships at Guy’s & St Thomas’ and Barts Health NHS Trusts, and earned an MD (Res) in Pain Epidemiology from Imperial College London.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Fayaz is an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London (UCL) and serves as a Principal Investigator for national research studies, including PANDOS and VERTANICAL, both focused on pain and postoperative opioid use.
