Physiotherapy Triage
Physiotherapy triage is as assessment service for individuals with complaints affecting their bones, joints and muscles, such as sprains and strains. It can also be used for other issues such as women’s health and balance. It aims to ensure you get access to the most appropriate treatment with the right clinician without delay. Following triage, you may be advised to see a physiotherapist for further treatment, or may be advised to see another professional such as your GP or a consultant if more appropriate.
It may be that your condition can be managed with advice and exercises over the phone or app. Nuffield Health uses a mixture of telephone and digital triage to provide flexibility and accessibility for you. If your insurance allows, you will have been given the option to choose which triage assessment you would like to use for access to our physiotherapy services. The aim of both forms of triage is the same in determining the optimum next steps for your assessment and treatment.
Digital Triage
We are pleased to be able to offer you the option of completing a digital triage assessment. This will improve accessibility into our services by providing you with the ability to complete the assessment at a time that suits you, and it will facilitate early access to assistance.
It is an online tool that can be accessed on your computer, mobile or tablet, and allow you to self-assess your muscle or joint problem by answering a series of questions. This means that you can complete your triage when it suits you, any time, day or night, in the comfort of your own home. It will then direct you to the recommended healthcare professional, or give advice on self-management, providing you with a detailed summary of your symptoms and any advice given.
The platform has been developed by a team of experienced clinicians and has extensive evidence for being able to direct care appropriately and safely. We are excited to be able to offer this innovative approach to your triage that will improve your experience when accessing our services.
