How to book
- Once you’ve found the test or scan you want, click ‘Find a hospital’.
- Enter your location for the nearest hospital that offers that procedure.
- You’ll need a referral from a medical professional before you can book. Once you have one, email it to your chosen hospital’s radiology department and they’ll be in touch to book your appointment and confirm the price. You can find their email on the hospital’s page in the contact information section.
Types of test and scan:
CT scan (or CAT scan)
A CT scan is used to produce internal cross-sectional images of the body. The images aid the detection of disease and injury, allowing effective treatment planning.
Mammogram (breast screening)
A mammogram is a diagnostic test used to look for any problems within the breast and surrounding tissues. At Nuffield Health some women are eligible to refer themselves for self-pay breast screening.
MRI scan

Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a non-invasive scan that uses sound waves to create live images from the inside of the body.

An X-ray machine captures detailed images of the inside of your body. If your GP has referred you for an X-ray, Nuffield Health Manchester Diagnostic Suite provides fast and convenient appointments, often available within just a few days.
