John Bruell, Hospital Director

John has worked in Nuffield Health hospital management since 2013 and has broad-based leadership experience across a number of regulated businesses. John has a first class degree in Civil Engineering and qualified as a chartered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers in London.

Before joining Nuffield Health, John held a range of senior management roles within the defence sector, working closely with UK and foreign governments.

John has lived in West Sussex for over 12-years and is married with two grown-up children.

Patricia Hulse, Matron

Patricia Hulse first qualified as a nurse in 1988 and worked in the NHS in both cardiology and GI medicine before moving to the private sector.

She has worked for Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital for the past 16 years as a staff nurse in day surgery and endoscopy, ward Sister and was appointed in 2014 as Matron of Nuffield Health Chichester Hospital.

Her main focus is leading the clinical teams who work in the hospital and ensuring that they are able to provide an excellent standard of compassionate nursing care to all of our patients and service users to make the patient journey as easy and stress-free as possible. 

Rachel Baldwin, Patient Services

Rachel started working for Nuffield Health Chichester Hospital in 1998, firstly on Reception, before becoming Bookings Team Leader. In her new role as Patient Services Lead she is often people’s first contact with the hospital. Rachel handles all the enquires at the hospital, organises hospital tours and information evenings for the public.

Vicky London, Outpatient Sister and Preassessment Manager

Once qualified, Vicky worked within a busy trauma orthopaedics department, including both medical and surgical care. After this, she decided to travel Australia, where she worked with brain injury patients in the community and surgical wards in a private hospital. She then returned home and started at Nuffield Health Chichester Hospital in Outpatients. She progressed from Staff Nurse, to Senior Nurse to Sister within 5 years of working with Nuffield.

She currently manages two busy clinical departments; Outpatients, where she leads 14 staff members and is responsible for the initial clinics and surgical outpatient procedures performed on a daily basis, as well as our Preassessment team of 5 Nurses, who are responsible for performing tests and making sure each of our patients is prepared and has the correct information for the treatment they need. She is currently completing an apprenticeship in leadership within the company.

Jo Lawrence, Ward Sister

Jo qualified as a registered nurse in 1989, and has worked in both NHS and private hospitals, mainly in orthopaedic nursing, both trauma and elective. She has post-registration qualifications in orthopaedics and care of the elderly. She joined Nuffield Health in 2003 as a Senior Staff Nurse on the inpatient ward and progressed to Ward Sister in 2011.
