About
I am a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I completed my junior doctor training in Oxford, Glasgow, Cambridge, and London, including time at St Mark’s Hospital. I then undertook my registrar training in the Wessex region and completed my specialist training at the Royal Brisbane Hospital in Australia.
I was awarded a Doctor of Medicine (DM) degree for my research into how bowel control and defecation work, as well as the conditions that affect them and their treatment. I have authored two books and published over 100 journal articles and book chapters.
In my clinical practice, I treat a wide range of conditions, including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and diverticular disease. I have a particular interest in pelvic floor disorders, such as incontinence, constipation, and prolapse. I also work closely with gynaecology colleagues to care for women with complex endometriosis.
From 2018 to 2022, I served as Clinical Director for Surgery at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
