About

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon with a specialist interest in hip and knee surgery. I treat a wide range of joint problems, including sports injuries, ligament injuries, cartilage damage, and arthritis (joint wear and tear).

I aim to help you reduce pain, improve movement, and return to your normal activities, including work and sport.

I have been a consultant at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since September 2014. I manage both planned (elective) surgery and emergency trauma cases.

My experience and training

I qualified from the University of Leeds in 2000 with honours. I completed my higher surgical training on the Yorkshire Orthopaedic Rotation.

I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics (FRCS Tr & Orth). I was added to the GMC Specialist Register in 2012.

I have completed specialist training in Australia and New Zealand. I also undertook three fellowships in hip and knee surgery in Harrogate, York, and Reading. These focused on:
  • Joint replacement (arthroplasty)
  • Joint preservation (saving the natural joint)
  • Sports knee surgery

During my training, I was awarded the John Fitton Prize in 2011 for the best orthopaedic research in Yorkshire.

Teaching and education

I am an Honorary Clinical Tutor at Leeds University Medical School. I also hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Warwick.

I am actively involved in teaching and training junior doctors and medical students. I support the development of future orthopaedic surgeons.
