About
He treats all knee injuries and has performed thousands of arthroscopies and ligament reconstructions, maximising functional outcome to help patients return to their pre-injury level of sport/activities.
He is also a very experienced knee replacement surgeon, having performed over 5000 knee replacements including more than 1500 partial knee replacements, total knee replacements and many complex revision procedures. He uses technological advances to optimise outcomes for patients including robotic assisted knee replacement tailored to each patient’s specific anatomy and the latest techniques to accelerate patients’ recovery.
He graduated from Cambridge University in 1987 & Imperial College in 1993 and trained in London and Yorkshire, completing a Fellowship in Australia before being appointed as a Consultant Specialist Knee Surgeon in 2005.
Robotic-arm assisted surgery
Mr Neil Hunt is experienced in performing joint replacement surgery using the Mako robotic-arm assisted system, a cutting-edge technique that enhances precision and personalisation in joint replacement procedures.
Mr Hunt combines advanced 3D CT-based planning technology to tailor each surgery to the patient’s unique anatomy. This approach allows for optimal implant positioning, reduced soft tissue damage, and improved preservation of healthy bone, resulting in faster recovery times and superior functional outcomes.
He leverages the Mako system to deliver consistently high standards of care and long-term patient satisfaction.

Research
Mr Hunt has undertaken wide-ranging research projects resulting in presentations at national and international orthopaedic meetings and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
He has been a participant in several international multi-centre studies aiming to introduce improved techniques for the benefit of patients including the ACTIVE Trial of Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation (resurfacing of articular cartilage).
Mr Hunt regularly attends lectures, teaches and demonstrates surgical techniques to Consultant Knee Surgeons, fellows and senior trainees. He also hosts visiting overseas surgeons who observe his surgery.
