Mr Cooke is a highly respected Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with decades of experience specialising in hip and knee surgery, including primary joint replacements, complex revision surgery, and metal‑on‑metal hip revisions. He is well‑known among patients for his warm manner, clear communication, and commitment to delivering exceptional, personalised care. As well as performing hip and knee replacements, Mr Cooke offers knee arthroscopy for meniscal tears and cartilage problems, plus hip and knee joint injections—often carried out during the same appointment to provide fast pain relief.
Mr Cooke has a strong academic background, including significant research in Birmingham hip resurfacing, with publications in leading orthopaedic journals and presentations at national conferences. He has also featured on Channel 4’s Dispatches for his expertise in metal‑on‑metal hip findings.
After graduating from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School (1995), he undertook specialist training across the North East and completed a prestigious fellowship in the Edinburgh Lower Limb Reconstruction Unit, working with some of the UK’s leading surgeons. He now brings extensive experience in lower limb reconstruction to both his NHS role at North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Trust and his private practice.
Mr Cooke is also passionate about teaching the next generation of healthcare professionals. Working with NHS England, he live‑streams hip and knee replacement surgery using RealWear technology, offering students a unique, real‑time surgeon’s‑eye view of the operating theatre.
He holds private clinics several times a week at Nuffield Health Tees Hospital and Nuffield Health York Hospital.
