About
Mr Sharma completed his specialist registrar training in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery in West of Scotland, Glasgow in April 2009. Subsequently he completed Spinal Fellowship training in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK and at Sheffield, UK. He worked as a locum Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon at Western Infirmary, Glasgow for 18 months period prior to joining Derriford Hospital in July 2012.
Mr Sharma has done musculoskeletal trauma and general Orthopaedic Surgery for more than 10 years. The vast majority of his current clinical practice is adult spinal surgery for patients presenting with back pain, leg pain, neck pain and arm pain. He performs nerve root injections, microdiscectomy, spinal decompression, lumbar instrumented fusion, anterior cervical discectomy and fusion.
Other interests
Mr Sharma is interested in all forms of Spinal Surgery including degenerative conditions of cervical and lumbar spine, vertebral body augmentation, adult deformity, spinal trauma, spinal tumours and spinal infection.
He also has special interest in education and teaching (undergraduate, postgraduate, GPs and Physiotherapists).
