About

Mr Damian Lake is a highly experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist with over fifteen years of consultant-level practice specialising in corneal disease, refractive surgery, and complex anterior segment reconstruction. He previously served as Clinical Director of the Corneo-Plastic Unit at Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, one of the UK’s leading tertiary referral centres for complex corneal disease.

Mr Lake has extensive experience in corneal transplantation, ocular surface disease, refractive surgery, and advanced intraocular lens surgery. During his NHS career he developed multiple specialist services including femtosecond laser technology, glaucoma stents, confocal microscopy, and integrated optometry services.

He is Co-Owner and Medical Director of Tunbridge Wells Eye Centre, providing multidisciplinary private ophthalmic care. Mr Lake also provides independent medico-legal ophthalmology reports and acts as a medical advisor to the NHS Ombudsman.

Mr Lake holds a Masters degree (LLM) in the Legal Aspects of Medicine from Cardiff University and has contributed to national ophthalmic guidance through advisory roles with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, NHS Blood and Transplant, and NICE. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals on corneal surgery, keratoconus, and refractive procedures.
