About
After his appointment as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in 1997, and following Higher Surgical Training in London, the USA and Austria, Mr Gibbon established a specialist knee surgery service in York, treating all types of knee disorders, including sports injuries and all forms of arthritis.
As well as seeing patients referred by GPs, physiotherapists and podiatrists, he also takes referrals from Consultant Orthopaedic colleagues locally and regionally seeking a specialist opinion.
In addition to arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery and ligament reconstruction, he has a specific interest in maximising the functional outcome following knee replacement surgery, particularly in the younger patient.
Mr Gibbon is also actively involved in teaching surgical techniques to trainee surgeons, both regionally and nationally. He has a prominent role in the orthopaedic education of medical students at Hull York Medical School and is currently Surgical Tutor at York Hospital.
