About
Mr Turnbull specialises in corneal, cataract and refractive surgery. Towards the end of his UK training, he completed a Corneal Fellowship at University Hospital Southampton and also spent time in Canada and the USA receiving advanced training in complex cataract surgery and iris reconstruction.
After being appointed by the Royal Bournemouth Hospital as an NHS Consultant in 2018, Mr Turnbull undertook a second Corneal and Refractive Fellowship in Australia with one of the pioneers of modern cataract surgery, Graham Barrett. After further training in refractive surgery in Adelaide, Bangalore and London, Mr Turnbull returned to his NHS post in Bournemouth where he now leads the Cataract Service.
Prior to joining Nuffield Bournemouth, Mr Turnbull spent two years as a specialist Refractive Surgeon at Optegra Eye Hospital Hampshire.
Mr Turnbull is actively involved with clinical research and teaching junior eye surgeons. He has over 20 peer-reviewed publications in the academic literature and regularly presents nationally and internationally.

Other interests
Mr Turnbull is pleased to offer small incision cataract surgery, refractive lens exchange with toric (astigmatism reducing) and multifocal intraocular lenses, pterygium surgery as well as the full range of modern refractive procedures including LASIK, SMILE and implantable contact lenses (ICL).
