About
Mr Cattell is an award-winning knee specialist and sports knee surgeon with expertise in ACL reconstruction, keyhole (arthroscopic) surgery, kneecap instability surgery, knee preservation procedures and knee replacement surgery.
In July 2026 he became the first surgeon in the UK and one of only six worldwide to be awarded the prestigious ESSKA Certificate of Excellence in Arthroscopic Knee Surgery, an internationally recognised mark of excellence in treating complex knee conditions.
Mr Cattell provides expert assessment and treatment for a wide range of knee problems, including sports injuries, meniscal tears, ligament injuries, arthritis and persistent knee pain. He is committed to delivering personalised care, taking time to explain diagnoses and treatment options clearly so patients can make informed decisions.
After qualifying in South Africa, Mr Cattell completed specialist orthopaedic training in the UK, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2016. He then undertook advanced fellowships in sports knee surgery, knee replacement surgery and complex trauma at some of the UK's most renowned orthopaedic centres, including Wrightington Hospital and the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre in Exeter.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Cattell is passionate about training the next generation of surgeons and serves as the Educational Lead for Orthopaedics.
Whether you are looking to return to sport, reduce knee pain or explore treatment options for arthritis, Mr Cattell offers specialist expertise and a patient-centred approach to help you get back to doing what matters most.
