About
Dr Heatlie Graduated from University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne with MBBS and has a first class BSc. He undertook specialist cardiology training in London and Nottingham. His areas of expertise include cardiac MRI and echocradiograpy ( transthoracic, transoesophageal and stress ). He established the cardiac MRI scanning service in Stoke in 2004.
Special interests
All aspects of cardiology. Special interest in cardiac Imaging, in particular stress echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiograpy and cardiac Magnetic Resonance imaging.
Dr Heatlie is a consultant cardiologist at Royal Stoke University Hospital. His other main role is a managerial one as Deputy Medical Director for University Hospitals of North Staffordshire ( which includes Royal Stoke)
Other interests
Dr Heatlie has a strong interest in medical education. He was training programme director for specialist cardiology training for 10 years. He runs a large portfolio of training courses in cardiac imaging which attract delegates from around the world.
Personal interests
Dr Heatlie has a passion for outdoor sport, particularly skiing- on piste, off piste, ski touring and Cat and Heli skiing ( most recently in Alaska ) . His other main interest is long distance road cycling, having completed Lands End- John O'groats in 9 days in 2018. St Malo- Nice next......

Research
Dr Heatlie was awarded a PhD from Southampton University for scientific research. He was ongoing involvement in a number of research projects and these have published in prestigious cardiovascular journals including Heart and JACC CV Imaging.
