About
Dr Ari Manuel is a Consultant in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at Wye Valley NHS Trust, based at Hereford County Hospital.
He has more than a decade's experience in specialist sleep and ventilation services. His practice covers general respiratory medicine, including breathlessness, persistent cough, asthma and COPD, alongside sleep apnoea, insomnia, excessive daytime sleepiness, restless legs syndrome, narcolepsy, non-invasive ventilation and obesity hypoventilation syndrome.
He also has particular experience in assessing fatigue, long COVID, dysautonomia and respiratory symptoms associated with hypermobility.
Approach to patient care
Dr Manuel takes a practical, patient-centred approach, combining careful clinical assessment with appropriate lung function and sleep testing.
His aim is to provide clear diagnoses, evidence-based treatment and coordinated follow-up for patients with both straightforward and complex symptoms.
Teaching and research
Dr Manuel is a Senior Honorary Clinical Lecturer, has contributed to national guidance and committees in respiratory and sleep medicine, and publishes in peer-reviewed journals.
Education
He
graduated from Imperial College London in 2003, completed specialist training
in London and Oxford, and was awarded a DPhil from the University of Oxford for
research into obesity-related respiratory failure and respiratory physiology.
