What is Nutritional Therapy?
The foods you eat can have a fundamental impact on how your body functions and feels. Nutritional Therapy applies the science of food to promote health, performance and wellbeing.
Registered Nutritional Therapists use a wide range of tools to assess and identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual’s symptoms and health concerns. This approach allows them to work with individuals to address nutritional balance and help support the body towards maintaining health.
Nutritional Therapy is a complementary medicine and is relevant for individuals with chronic conditions, as well as those looking to support their health.
All Nuffield Health Nutritional Therapists have considerable experience in nutritional support for a wide range of conditions including:
- Digestive disorders
- Diabetes & blood sugar control
- High cholesterol
- Food intolerances & food allergies

Steph is a fully registered Nutritional Therapist and is based in two sites; Nuffield Health in Hertford and Nuffield Health Medical Centre in Canary Wharf. Her approach to nutritional therapy and wellness encompasses the functional medicine model.
By shifting the traditional disease-centred focus of medical practice to a more client-centred approach. This model focuses on identifying problems with underlying body systems that may be contributing to signs and symptoms of ill-health and disease.
She works with a people with a variety of chronic health conditions, as well as supporting those who are keen to take a preventative approach to their health or improve their general wellbeing. Her particular areas of interest include stress management, digestive health, weight management and cancer.
Prior to training as a Nutritional Therapist, Steph was a design project manager which has given her the corporate experience to understand the pressures and strains that can come with working in a fast paced environment.
The first step is for Steph to understand your issues, as well as your goals. Her approach is the ‘whole-person’ approach, so first of all she would like to invite you to a free 15-minute consultation which can be carried out in person or over the phone before commencing an initial consultation. This provides you the opportunity to have an initial chat and gives you a flavour of Nutritional therapy, working with Steph and the process involved.
Once you've agreed to move forward, you will be emailed a comprehensive pre-consultation questionnaire that asks questions about all of your body systems, medical history and lifestyle factors as well as recording a 3-day food diary. We recommend you fill this out as soon as possible so that Steph can view your presenting case well in advance of your consultation. By doing that, you enable her to start learning about your health history to date, so that the focus can be on the root causes of any imbalances you may be suffering from rather than on merely relieving the symptoms.
