Nuffield Health welcomes new Medical Director

Nuffield Health has announced the appointment of Mr Mahmood Shafi as its new Medical Director. He will succeed Mr Geoff Graham, who after 12 successful years with Nuffield Health has made the decision to step down at the end of 2017.

Mr Shafi, a consultant gynaecological surgeon and oncologist at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, joins Nuffield Health with a wealth of experience. He has previously held director positions in the NHS and been Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee at Nuffield Health’s Cambridge Hospital for eight years.

As Medical Director, Mr Shafi will play a critical role in Nuffield Health’s quality and care initiatives and will work closely with the Board Quality and Safety Committee. He will focus on the development of clinical pathways, clinical outcome measures, and governance and enhance medical leadership within Nuffield Health. Mr Shafi has an interest in publishing and has authored 11 medical textbooks in his speciality.

His knowledge and advice has been invaluable and I am delighted that he has agreed to stay with Nuffield Health until the end of the year to ensure the smooth transition of his responsibilities over to Mahmood.”
