Nuffield Health achieves ‘Gold’ with ANTT infection prevention accreditation across more than 90 sites

Nuffield Health is celebrating a major accreditation in infection prevention, as more than 90 of its hospitals, medical centres, and even fitness and wellbeing clubs achieve the Gold standard in Aseptic Non Touch Technique (ANTT).

ANTT is the national standard designed to minimise healthcare-associated infections, with the highest Gold accreditation signalling that patients can expect safer treatment, reduced infection risk and the same high standards of clinical care wherever they access Nuffield Health’s clinical services.

With the accreditation spanning not only its 35 hospitals, but also its network of medical centres and 35 fitness and wellbeing clubs that offer clinical services, Nuffield Health is one of the largest healthcare providers in the UK to achieve the Gold standard across all its services.

This demonstrates the organisations commitment to delivering high-quality and safe care to patients.

ANTT applies to all invasive treatments, from finger prick blood tests, wound care, IV access and injections, to major surgical procedures.

Achieving compliance requires organisations to demonstrate excellence across their education and training, infection prevention policies, staff adherence and ongoing audit and quality assurance.

Reaching the gold accreditation is a significant challenge, with only a limited number of providers nationally meeting the benchmark to date.

Nuffield Health’s accomplishment is particularly notable given their speed in evidencing ANTT adherence across so many sites. The organisation achieved Gold across more than 90 sites - an impressive achievement given the robustness and depth of the accreditation process.

Alison McCourt, Chief Clinical and Quality Officer at Nuffield Health, said:

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our clinical teams, the strength of our governance systems, and our commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care. It assures patients that they can expect the same exceptional care wherever they access our services.

“Securing gold is demanding for any hospital, so to see such great engagement from teams across all our services - and to achieve it even within our fitness and wellbeing clubs that provide clinical care - is truly exceptional. It speaks volumes about the dedication and determination of our people.”

Stephen Rowley, Clinical Director at ANTT, said:

“We’ve been hugely impressed by the Nuffield’s determination and commitment to implement ANTT in so many sites across the UK. Such a focus on optimising patient safety at all levels should certainly provide the clinical assurance that all patients deserve.

“The clinical leadership has been pivotal in this robust implementation, and this has been actively supported by the higher management of the organisation. When clinical leadership and management come together like this, staff get educated and assessed properly in ANTT and patients benefit. The independent sector is really beginning to set the bar for ANTT Implementation”.
