Kate Hesse
How can I help you improve your health?
When Kate graduated from La Trobe University, Melbourne, in 1995 with a four-year Bachelor of Physiotherapy, she headed straight overseas to work with British Forces in Germany for two years, later returning to Australia to further her career in the private sector. In recent times, 2012 to 2019, she returned to the MoD on a part-time basis, working at numerous Army and RAF bases across the UK and Germany. Through the military work and private practice, Kate has gained extensive experience in treating musculoskeletal and sports injuries. She is particularly passionate about functional rehabilitation from injury, and lifestyle management with a focus on cardiovascular health and disease prevention. In 2011 she completed a postgraduate Certificate of Advanced Study with distinction in Preventive Cardiology at Imperial College London.
The other half of Kate’s working life is based in Newmarket where she specialises in physiotherapy for the Thoroughbred racehorse and is fortunate enough to work with some of the best equine athletes in the world. She has an MSc with distinction in Veterinary Physiotherapy from the Royal Veterinary College and maintains her academic interests as a clinical educator for the University of Liverpool on their MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy programme, as well as writing editorials for racing magazines and lecturing at conferences in the UK and abroad.
Outside of work, Kate is an Army Reserve officer and physiotherapist within the Royal Army Medical Corp. She enjoys keeping fit, alpine skiing, and travelling to far flung places with her surfboard.
