Our private GP service provides a convenient and confidential option for you and your family to access expert medical advice, diagnosis, and treatment at a time that suits you. Whether you need a same-day consultation, a health check, or ongoing care, we’re here to support your wellbeing with professionalism and compassion.

GP appointments:

• Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays.
• Initial appointments are face to face lasting 30 minutes at £130
• Follow up appointments are face to face at a cost of £70 for 15 minutes and £130 for 30 minutes.
• Same-day appointments available,
• Available to anybody
• No need to be registered with an NHS GP

Our doctors are experienced in all aspects of medicine and have a variety of special interests to cater for most medical needs. The service is run by local GPs, who have many years of experience.

Specialty: General Practice

One of the advantages of being based within the hospital is that we can usually arrange for investigations such as blood tests, x-rays and scans to be done at the time of consultation with a GP, or the following day.

We can also ensure rapid referral to any one of the wide range of specialists that consult at the hospital if needed.

Our services include:

• On-site pharmacy
• On-site pathology
• Diagnostic imaging referrals (including ultrasound, mammograms, CT and MRI scanning booking is dependent on availability)
• Electrocardiograms (ECGs)
• Private prescriptions
• Referrals to private consultants and specialists.
• Issue of Sick certificates
• Physiotherapy/Rehabilitation referrals
• General lifestyle advice (including weight management, smoking cessation and cholesterol levels)
• Prostate screening
• Cervical Smear tests
• HGV and taxi medicals
• Sports medicine certificates

Services we do not provide:

• Emergency or out-of-hours care – please call the NHS 111 or 999
• Minor surgery
• Contraceptive Coils and implant service
• Medical certification for scuba diving and aviation 24-hour health cover or emergency service
• Repeat prescriptions, except where we have initiated treatment, or (exceptionally) in an emergency.
• Minor surgery
• Ongoing monitoring of long-term conditions where the NHS might be a more appropriate provider of this chronic disease management service.
• To be treated for a reaction to any prescribed medication (this would be deemed an emergency
• To routinely use the service for ‘sick’ notes for conditions Nuffield Health GP is not treating

Costs of our private GP service

• An initial consultation with one of our GPs costs £130 for 30 minutes (if you are seeing a new GP or for a new concern you will require a new 30 minute initial appointment.
• Follow up appointments are available at £70 for 15 minutes and £130 for 30 minutes
• This will be payable on bookings and card registration will be required.
• For medicals other than HGV and Taxi, please enquire for costs, paperwork to be submitted in advance, please contact us for further details
• There will be additional fees if tests/treatments are required (prices are available on request and payable to Nuffield Health in most cases).
• Any medicines required will be prescribed on a private prescription redeemable at any pharmacy including at our own on site pharmacy.
• Non attendance will be chargeable in full if less than 24 hours notice is given and card payment will be taken prior to appointment.
