If you've booked an ophthalmology appointment

Here's some important guidance you need to follow:

  • Please don't drive to your appointment in case you need to have your eyes dilated
  • Please bring details of any previous laser refractive surgery to your appointment (details of previous operations or refraction from the optician)
  • Please remove contact lenses ahead of your appointment:
    • Soft contact lenses, 5–7 days prior to your appointment
    • Gas permeable lenses, 3 weeks prior to your appointment
  • If it's a cataract consultation, to improve the quality of biometry measurements, please use eye drops 2 hourly, for 1–2 weeks ahead of your appointment. You can use any preservative-free products such as Hycosan, which you can buy from your pharmacy.
