About
Lakshika Perera trained at King’s College London and completed her ophthalmology training on the North West Rotation, based at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. She then undertook a specialist fellowship in Medical Retina at St Paul’s Eye Unit in Liverpool, where she contributed to multi-centre research studies.
Ms Perera has been a Consultant Ophthalmologist at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust since 2014.
She has extensive experience in general ophthalmology and routinely performs cataract surgery using phacoemulsification techniques.
Her main specialist interests are in medical retina conditions, including:
- Age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Retinal vascular occlusions
Ms Perera is also passionate about medical education and training. She is an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ Fellowship exams, supporting the next generation of eye specialists.
