About

Ella has over 15 years’ experience in Hand Therapy, with the majority of her clinical practice closely linked with the nationally and internationally recognised Derby Pulvertaft Hand Unit.

She was awarded Accredited Hand Therapist (BAHT) status in 2007 and is currently further advancing her expertise by working towards an MSc in Hand Therapy.

Ella has been an active member of the British Association of Hand Therapy (BAHT) Education Sub‑committee since 2007. In this role, she contributes to the education, training and professional development of hand and upper‑limb therapists across the UK.

Teaching and professional development

Ella is a regular returning lecturer at local universities, teaching on Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy postgraduate programmes, including at:

  • University of Bradford
  • University of Derby
  • University of Nottingham.

She also travels extensively throughout the UK, Europe and further afield, delivering training workshops on hand therapy treatments and attending European Hand Congresses, ensuring her practice remains current, evidence‑based and internationally informed.

Ella is committed to the advancement of hand therapy practice through clinical excellence, education and professional collaboration, supporting both patients and fellow clinicians.

Research

In 2011 Ella was involved in a Dupuytren's Research project at the Royal Derby Hospital NHS, Pulvertaft Hand Unit. She is currently researching wrist denervation assessments for her MSc in Hand Therapy independent study.
