Mrs Sarah Barlow

I have extensive clinical experience across a wide range of audiology settings, having worked in both the NHS and the independent sector in the UK and internationally.

I began my career within NHS audiology departments in Kent and Derbyshire, where I developed experience in diagnostic audiology, hearing assessment, and auditory rehabilitation. I later worked for a hearing aid manufacturer, gaining valuable insight into hearing technology, acoustic design, and device development.

I then spent 10 years working at the Royal School for the Deaf in Derby, where I developed specialist expertise in the assessment, habilitation, and long-term management of individuals with hearing impairment, including those with complex audiological needs.

Following this, I established my own independent audiology practice, expanding my clinical work in adult diagnostic audiology and hearing aid provision. I also spent two years managing a private audiology clinic in New Zealand, where I gained further experience in international audiology services and models of care delivery.

I was the Founder and Proprietor of Just Hearing in Derby until November 2023, where I provided comprehensive, patient-centred audiological care, including diagnostic assessment, hearing aid fitting, and rehabilitation.

Clinical expertise

I have a particular interest and expertise in hearing loss (conductive, sensorineural, and mixed), deafness and auditory rehabilitation, tinnitus and its management, and comprehensive audiological assessment and hearing evaluation.

My clinical skills include pure tone audiometry (air and bone conduction), speech audiometry and speech discrimination testing, tympanometry to assess middle ear function, otoscopy for examination of the ear canal and tympanic membrane, and aural impression taking for custom hearing devices.

At Nuffield Health, I provide adult diagnostic audiology assessments, hearing aid assessment and fitting, optimisation of hearing devices, and ongoing aftercare and auditory rehabilitation.
