About
Mr Will Dean is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon based in Cheltenham and the Cotswolds.
He has 25 years’ experience in eye care, has performed over 12,000 eye surgeries and is a global expert in cataract surgery. He completed his basic medical training at the University of Leicester graduating in 1999, and eye specialist training in the Severn Deanery, UK.
Mr Dean specialises in cataract surgery (including advanced and complex cataract cases, and premium intra-ocular lenses), glaucoma (including laser and surgical management), and general Ophthalomlogy. He is the Clinical Director of Ophthalmology at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust; Assistant Clinical Professor at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine; and Associate Professor at the University of Cape Town where he is at the forefront of simulation surgical training.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, and a Member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Mr Dean was awarded a PhD from the University of London for his ground-breaking work on ophthalmic surgical training. He has published 40 papers in international scientific journals and a well-known textbook on eye surgery.
