About
Mr Vitali Gorianov is a fellowship-trained consultant orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in hip and knee conditions, with a particular focus on hip preservation surgery. His aim is to prevent or delay the development of hip arthritis by treating underlying issues early and helping patients maintain their natural joints for as long as possible.
He studied medicine at the University of Southampton and became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007. He completed his basic trauma and orthopaedic training in the Wessex region, followed by specialist fellowship training in hip arthroscopy and hip preservation surgery at the Royal Berkshire County Hospital in Reading.
Mr Gorianov is a Consultant in Hip Preservation and Joint Replacement (Arthroplasty) Surgery at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.
Alongside his clinical work, he is actively involved in teaching, training and research. He is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Southampton and is passionate about developing new ways to preserve natural joints and improve the lifespan of joint replacement implants.
He holds a PhD in Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research from the University of Southampton, an MSc in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Dundee.
Mr Gorianov has published over 20 research papers. His research interests include regenerative medicine, skeletal stem cell research, and the use of new materials and technologies in joint replacement surgery.
