About
Mr Nargol is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement surgery. Appointed as a Lower Limb Joint Replacement Surgeon in February 2002, he completed his specialist training in the Northern Deanery after graduating from Newcastle University.
With over 1,200 hip replacement procedures performed in recent years—alongside a significant volume of complex revision hip surgery—Mr Nargol is recognised as a leading expert in modern lower limb reconstruction techniques. He is one of the first surgeons in the UK to introduce gender‑specific male and female knee replacements, improving outcomes through tailored joint design.
As Clinical Lead for Lower Limb at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, Mr Nargol plays a central role in advancing orthopaedic care across the region. His research and clinical insight into ASR metal‑on‑metal hip implant recalls led to national media appearances, including Channel 4’s Dispatches and BBC’s The One Show. Regionally, he has also been featured on BBC Look North for his pioneering work.
Mr Nargol has contributed to major developments in implant safety, including the creation of a diagnostic blood test used to detect early problems in hip replacements—helping protect patients and improve long‑term outcomes.
A strong advocate for patient‑centred care, Mr Nargol believes that age should never be a barrier to the best possible treatment. His goal is always to help patients return to work, sport, and the lifestyles they enjoy through safe, effective, and personalised orthopaedic care.

"It is now 4 1/2 months since I had my partial knee replacement. I can now walk 4 to 5 miles a day. No pain or swelling. So pleased I had this operation done by Mr Nargol initially it was very painful, however, by doing the daily exercises given by the physiotherapist I can now live an active life again. The operation has been a wonderful success" - July 2026
"I have had both knees and hips replaced by Mr Nargol. I have had excellent outcomes from all of the op’s and I cannot thank him enough for the difference the surgeries have made to my life. Throughout all of my treatment he has always taken time to explain every step of each procedure - both before and after surgery, in a professional and reassuring way. He has a lovely calm , friendly demeanour and I am always confident that I will be well cared for by him and his team. Thank you" - June 2026
