About

I'm a Consultant ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) Surgeon at Nuffield Health Shrewsbury. I offer assessment and treatment for a full range of general ENT conditions, with a particular focus on complex nose and sinus disorders, as well as anterior skull base surgery.

Education

I graduated from Birmingham Medical School and completed my Higher Surgical Training in the West Midlands. During this time, I developed strong experience across all areas of general ENT practice, alongside a particular focus on rhinology (nose and sinus surgery).

My training included working at leading specialist centres such as Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Royal Stoke University Hospital, where I gained advanced skills in complex nasal and sinus surgery and anterior skull base procedures.

I went on to complete a highly competitive Advanced Fellowship in Rhinology, Nasal Plastic Surgery and Endoscopic Anterior Skull Base Surgery in Manchester. There, I trained with internationally recognised experts, further developing my specialist expertise.

Teaching and research

I'm actively involved in research and education. I've published widely in academic journals and contributed to surgical textbooks, as well as presenting at national and international conferences.

I also play a key role in training other surgeons, teaching on surgical skills courses and supporting exam and interview preparation.

Personal interests

Outside of work Mr Saunders has a busy young family and enjoys the extensive outdoor opportunities Shropshire has on offer.
