About

Mr Thomas Jenyon is a Consultant Eye Surgeon specialising in cataract surgery, corneal conditions, and external eye disease. He is highly experienced in micro-incision cataract surgery, including complex cases and patients who have previously had laser eye surgery.

He has particular expertise in managing astigmatism and using advanced intraocular lenses (IOLs), including premium lens options, to reduce the need for glasses after surgery. He also performs refractive lens exchange and uses the latest lens technologies to achieve excellent visual outcomes.

Mr Jenyon trained at University College London, where he qualified with distinction, and completed his specialist training in the West Midlands. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a member of the Royal College of Physicians. His work has been recognised with national and international awards, and he continues to contribute to research and publications in ophthalmology.

He is one of a small number of surgeons in the UK with expertise in Descemet’s Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK), a highly specialised form of corneal transplant, and consistently achieves strong outcomes in this area.

Based in Shrewsbury, Mr Jenyon works at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and provides seamless care across both NHS and private settings, particularly for patients with more complex eye conditions.

Alongside his clinical work, he is actively involved in medical education. He has received multiple awards for teaching excellence, including Trainer of the Year, and is committed to supporting and training the next generation of eye surgeons.

Mr Jenyon is known for his patient-centred approach, taking time to understand each individual’s needs and helping them choose the most appropriate treatment, whether for cataracts, lens-based vision correction or laser procedures.
