About

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic surgeon at York Hospital, specialising in surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist.

I obtained my medical degree from Guy's and St.Thomas' Hospitals in London, and trained to become an Orthopaedic Surgeon on the Oxford training programme.

During this time, I found the treatment of shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand conditions particularly rewarding, and was inspired to become an Upper Limb surgeon. I was privileged to perform complex open and arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery of these joints during my Fellowship at Wrightington Hospital in Lancashire, the internationally famous Centre of Excellence for Upper Limb Surgery.

I was competitively awarded the prestigious British Elbow and Shoulder Society Travelling Fellowship which took me to centres of excellence across the UK and Europe, and have also been awarded the European Diploma of Hand Surgery.

In 2013 I was nominated for a Pride award at Queens Hospital in Romford, and in 2017 I was nominated for a STAR award at York Hospital.  Both awards are for outstanding patient care above and beyond the call of duty.

As well as treating sporting injuries and arthritis, I am a keen musician (I play piano, drums and guitar), and have an interest in helping musicians who find that problems with their arms are stopping them from reaching their full playing potential. I was appointed as a Consultant in Essex in 2009, and was delighted when the opportunity to move to York arose in January 2017.  I am thoroughly enjoying living in York, and as my wife grew up here she is delighted to have come home!
