About
Mr Stephen Sarasin is a hip and knee surgeon based in Merthyr Cynon and Rhondda Cynon Taf as part of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, His main clinical interests are the management of hip and knee pain, hip and knee replacement (including revision surgery) and arthroscopic knee surgery.
He has been working as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon in Cwm Taf UHB since 2012 and covers a wide geographical area of South Wales . He has a full time NHS practice and has been an instructor in Advanced Trauma and Life Support.
Stephen's private practice involves the management of adult hip and knee pain, supporting patients through their journey to recovery; whether that is through physiotherapy, injections into the joint or a joint replacement.
Having completed his basic and higher surgical training in Wales, he was awarded the prestigious Cavendish Lower Limb Arthroplasty Fellowship in 2010, for one year, based at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. It was during this time that he developed his interest in the management of the infected arthroplasty. He then returned to Wales for a further six months to complete his fellowship training as the Cardiff Hip Fellow, based in Llandough University Hospital.
