About
Mr Bendall completed his undergraduate training at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School followed by orthopaedic training on the Charing Cross and St George's rotations. He gained his Fellowship at the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins, Baltimore, USA.
He was appointed as a Consultant in 1997 at the Princess Royal Hospital which later merged with the Royal Surrey County Hospital and is now part of University Hospitals Sussex.
Mr Bendall's interests include all aspects of foot and ankle surgery and he is involved in training and research. He has been a training programme director and is an examiner for the FRCS Orth examinations.
He was President of British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS) in 2014 having been Chair of the BOFAS Education Committee where he initiated the BOFAS Principles course and the BOFAS Outcome Registry.
Mr Bendall has over 32 scientific publications including those in relation to the TARVA study which seeks to understand the outcome of ankle fusion and replacement. The TARVA study won the AOFAS Roger Mann Award in 2022
He was until recently Clinical Lead at UHSx and is the local Lead for the National Joint Registry.
