- Overview
About
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee problems. I provide private care at Nuffield Health Derby Hospital and also work in the NHS at Royal Derby Hospital.
My aim is to reduce your pain, improve your movement and help you return to your normal activities.
I graduated in medicine from the University of Manchester in 1999. I completed my orthopaedic training in the West Midlands. This included experience at leading centres such as the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham and the Queen Elizabeth Major Trauma Centre.
I also completed specialist training at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry. I later undertook a lower‑limb fellowship in Derby before becoming a Consultant in 2014.
Before training as a doctor, I qualified as a pharmacist. I worked in both the pharmaceutical industry and clinical pharmacy. This gives me a strong understanding of medicines, safety and care around surgery.
Areas of expertise
I specialise in the treatment of hip and knee conditions, including:
- Arthritis of the hip and knee (joint wear and stiffness)
- Knee injuries and cartilage problems
- Complex joint problems requiring reconstruction
Specialist procedures
I offer a range of treatments, including:
- Hip replacement surgery
- Knee replacement surgery (partial and total)
- Revision surgery (to improve or replace an existing joint replacement)
- Knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery to diagnose and treat joint problems)
I perform both routine and complex procedures, using modern techniques to achieve the best results.
Teaching and training
I am involved in teaching and training future doctors and surgeons. I support medical students and help train the next generation of orthopaedic specialists.
My approach
I am committed to providing high‑quality, patient‑centred care. I will take time to understand your symptoms and explain your treatment options clearly.
My goal is to help you feel informed, supported and confident throughout your care, while achieving the best possible outcome.
